Location: pennsylvania | Ok so I have heard some mixed reviews on Macanudo as a whole. I believe it was here at utopia that I first heard of them being referred to as "Macadoodoo's"
That being said I like to approach my smokes as openly as possible. A friend of mine gifted me with a couple of Macanudo rare gold labels. Now unfortunately, with
most cigars the slapping of the word rare in front of the name means they will be underwhelming at best, or horrid at worst. The Gold label was my first smoke of the day
with nothing but a cup of coffee in my mouth before hand. The cigar smells pleasant upon lighting, but immediately you will notice in the pics that the burn is off. I don't like
to fix the burns myself, smoking a gar should not be work. The cigar was not very full it's pretty good for a morning smoke or maybe after a quick lunch. The ash held on for a while
but would have fallen off before it hit the first label had I not have removed it.
Now a lot of people speak of consistency in a cigar. And I personally believe it gets confused at times. In my opinion a really good cigar can be a different experience from the top of
the smoke to the bottom. And you can get that experience with each cigar. The Gold Label was consistent, but not complex. The cigar was very mild from start to finish. And although it
did not offend my taste buds, it certainly didn't make me jump either. I'm sure the Gold Label is a consistent smoke from stik to stik, but that may not be a good thing here. As this was
a gift I have no idea what these run in your local shops, but have no doubt I won't be jumping to buy them anytime soon. Was it a bad smoke? No not at all. But was it a good smoke?
Sadly no, it was an average smoke. It didn't really have anything that I personally think constitutes a good smoke. If you have to try every "rare" smoke out there then I won't deter you.
But aside from a really nice double label and a name that's just fun to say, these are pretty mediocre in a line of so called "Primo" cigars.
(Friend is borrowing my camera had to take stills with my camcorder sorry about the quality guys)

Location: Northport, ME & Jupiter, FL | ..my last Macanudo was the 1968 a few months ago. I know this is a new blend but I found it quite green. I've got the remainder of this 3-pack aging in my humidor for a future re-try. Bumping up a prior thread on the 1968, not the 'Gold Label' but my provide some insight.
